DESCRIPTION
Most homes without zoning systems experience comfort problems. Aprilaire has resolved this by introducing the first ever retrofit damper to be inserted into existing 6” supply ducts. This allows existing homes to enjoy all the comforts that a zoned system offers, without costly, sometimes impossible duct modification.

Energy waste is greatly reduced by not heating, or cooling, the entire home when only specific areas require it. Multiple 6” dampers insert into the existing air distribution system which are controlled by several thermostats thru a master zone control panel. Multiple dampers can be controlled by a single thermostat, or individual dampers can be controlled by a single thermostat. Installation is trouble free, simply cut a slot, insert damper and screw or strap to ductwork. Wiring is also effortless; all that is required is 10VA @ 24Volts per damper. Additional features include high-resolution LED lights on the damper, which illuminate when closed, simplifying check-out and troubleshooting.

These retrofit dampers are designed to be used with Aprilaire zoning panels & 8300 series thermostats. All zoning panels can handle up to 6 total dampers regardless of the number of zones. In situations where more than 6 dampers are desired, Aprilaire has also introduced the model 8028 damper power distribution panel. This panel allows 2 separate zones with a total capacity up to 20 dampers. Consideration must be taken as to the VA rating on the transformer operating the dampers. For example 7 dampers will necessitate the use of a 75 VA transformer, 10 dampers will need a 100 VA transformer.
