Coleman is more famously known for making camping gear, but under the auspices of Coleman Heating and Air they also manufacture a series of heating, ventilation and air conditioner products. The Comforteer Series Heat Pumps are one of Coleman’s HVAC lines and can provide year round heating or cooling.
It features a number of models ranging from 13 to over 15 SEER. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is a gauge for a heat pump’s cooling ability. 13 SEER is the federally mandated minimum for new residential units, but still better than many outdated air conditioners. The Comforteer Series also get up to a 9.7 HSPF which is a measure of heating performance in winter and stands for Heating Season Performance Factor. A 9.7 rating is a solid score on that regard.
Some models in Coleman’s Comforteer Series Heat Pumps qualify for Energy Star certification and installing a heat pump with this designation could qualify a buyer for a 30% Tax Rebate. Regardless of whether they qualify for Energy Star or not, all Comforteer Series Heat Pumps come with a high-tech compressor to reduce energy consumption and rippled coil fins for maximum heat conduction and quiet operation.
Coleman also touts its “warm to touch” feature which is intended to avoid cold start-up drafts. A high-pressure relief valve and solid core filter drier also help extend compressor life while the powder-painted steel cabinet insures protection against the elements.
