A heat pump’s efficient and reliable functioning largely depends on its coils. The heat pump coils serve as the heat exchanging system and carries the refrigerant fluids. In fact, if there any problem with your heat pump’s coils, it will affect the smooth performance of your heat pumps. However, with regular and proper maintenance of your heat pump, you can easily troubleshoot and fix problems in connection with your heating system’s coils.
Firstly, open your heat pump’s cover by removing its screws. Make sure that you have turned off the power to the unit, before unscrewing the cover. Once you gain access to the unit, check the coil to see whether it is contaminated. You can use a soft brush or broom to eliminate dust and debris found in the coil. Further, if the coils are clogged, clean them to smoothen its functioning.
Since heating / fan is necessary to render airflow over the coils in order to make it function properly, the next step is to monitor the functioning of the unit’s heating or cooling fan. If it is not functioning properly, there will be probably some problem with its blower motor, which in most cases should be replaced. For best results, it is recommended to hire the services of a professional service technician to get it fixed.
