What does a heat pump do?

A heat pump, more specifically an air-source heat pump, works almost exactly like a conventional air conditioner. The big difference is that, unlike a conventional AC unit, a heat pump can reverse its operating cycle in order to provide heat in cold weather conditions.

When it comes to electric heating, a heat pump is the most energy efficient heater available. If you want maximum electric heating efficiency, you should take a serious look at geothermal heat pump technology.
