Clallam County PUD - Residential and Small Business Efficiency Loan Program

Making energy efficiency improvements to your home or small business is a great way to cut your yearly spending and save money over the long term. Many people waste thousands every year when a few structural improvements or a better HVAC system would allow them to put that money back in their wallet. Of course, to improve a building’s efficiency, you have to have money in the first place which is why Clallam County PUD has partnered with First Federal Savings and Loan to create a residential and small business efficiency loan program. Clallam County PUD customers can use loan funds to invest in new energy-saving technologies or improve the efficiency envelope of their home. It’s a great way for service area homeowners to start saving energy and money at a very low interest rate.

Under the Clallam County PUD loan program, homeowners and small businesses can apply for between $1000 and $15,000 in loan funding. Typical loan application requirements apply, but customers have a great deal of latitude in what improvements they spend the funding on. It’s a great way to finance a new HVAC system like an energy efficient heat pump. An energy efficient heat pump functions as an air conditioner during summer, but can reverse cycle to provide ample heating during cooler weather. Also, a new energy efficient heat pump in line with Department of Energy standards is a better power manager than many outdated HVAC systems. Meanwhile, most customers won’t need the maximum loan amount to afford an energy efficient heat pump, since they’re typically priced affordably. Of course, an energy efficient heat pump is only one great option Clallam County PUD customers have open to them.

For more information on an energy efficiency loan, interested applicants should visit the Clallam County PUD web site or contact them directly.

Clallam County PUD - Residential and Small Business Solar Loan Program

Much of a household’s yearly electric spending goes into hot water heating. A traditional hot water heater must constantly consume electricity to keep its tank hot for household needs. The advantage is that you have hot water whenever you need it, but the downside is that your system is piling up the electric bill even when no one is home and using the hot water. A real alternative to this method is via a new solar hot water heater. As the name implies, a solar hot water heater uses solar energy to heat water for household use and, since solar energy is free, a solar hot water heater can save money on a yearly electric bill while providing the same level of modern convenience.

Solar hot water heaters aren’t free, but Clallam County PUD and First Federal Savings and Loan offer a solar loan program to residential and small business customers interested in adopting the technology. Customers who are approved can use loan funding to purchase and install a new solar hot water heater and start saving money right away. Typical loan application requirements apply, but there are no application fees. Customers must receive their utility service from Clallam County PUD and install the new solar hot water heater in the Clallam County PUD service area. For more information, contact the company directly or visit the web site.

Clark Public Utilities - Residential Heat Pump Loan Program

Modern heat pump technology is an excellent way to save money on a yearly electric bill, decrease a home’s carbon footprint, and enjoy great air comfort. There are a few kinds of heat pump systems, but the most common are air-source and geothermal heat pumps. An air-source heat pump functions like an air conditioner, but can also provide heating during cool weather. A geothermal heat pump uses subsurface temperatures to operate at over 100% efficiency, produces almost zero emissions, and is one of the best power managers in the HVAC industry. Whether homeowners opt for an air-source or geothermal heat pump, they will typically see a reduction in their electric bill and get great performance.

Of course, no one manufactures air-source or geothermal heat pumps for free, which is why Clark Public Utilities created its Residential Heat Pump Loan Program. This loan incentive can provide up to $30,000 for customers interested in new heat pump systems. To qualify, an applicant must have lived in their home for over a year, the home must be 100% electrically heated, and be able to repay the loan in the standard seven year term. Interest rates for the program are low, typical credit requirements are considered, and customers should contact Clark Public Utilities for more information on how to apply.

Clark Public Utilities - Solar Energy Equipment Loan

Clark Public Utilities customers now have an excellent opportunity to invest in the latest solar energy technology via a solar energy equipment loan program offered by the utility. Up to $10,000 is available for the purchase of a new solar hot water heater or solar pool heater. The maximum loan term is 60 months, the interest rate is typically set at 5.25%, and is open to any customer currently using Clark Public Utilities electric service to heat water.

A solar hot water heater is a great alternative to a traditional electric hot water heater. On sunny days, a solar hot water heater can provide hot water for a household’s needs without consuming electricity. As one might imagine, this can save a considerable amount of dollars over the long term and reduce power consumption without sacrificing quality of life. Solar hot water heaters are one of the next generation technologies that will reduce our fossil fuel needs and this Clark Public Utilities loan program is an excellent way to finance one.

For more information on a solar energy equipment loan, interested applicants should contact Clark Public Utilities directly or visit the company’s web site.

Grant County PUD - Residential Loan Program

Whether they want to be better stewards of the environment or just save some money, most folks are interested in reducing how much power they consume every year. A new HVAC system built for superior operating performance like an energy efficient heat pump is a great way to save power, but, of course, even the most economically priced energy efficient heat pump isn’t free. Grant County PUD customers have an advantage others don’t, since they can apply for the utility’s residential loan program. This program provides funding for a number of home improvement solutions, and investment in an energy efficient heat pump is an approved option under current program terms.

Typically, a Grant County PUD residential loan has a 10-year term and an interest rate of 4%. Loan amounts vary depending upon the improvements a customer intends to make. They can install new insulation in the floor or ceiling, replace doors and windows, or, as mentioned, invest in an energy efficient heat pump system for heating and cooling. Interested customers should contact Grant County PUD for more information and application requirements.

Grays Harbor PUD - Residential Energy Efficiency Loan

The Residential Energy Efficiency Loan Program is a great way for Grays Harbor PUD homeowners to invest in energy efficiency technologies, like an energy efficient heat pump HVAC system, at a reasonable interest rate. An energy efficient heat pump can save households money without sacrificing internal air comfort. They are able to do that by being better power managers than previous generation air conditioners. Of course, energy efficient heat pumps are also versatile enough to be able to reverse cycle for seasonal heating, something no air conditioner can do. An energy efficient heat pump is just one option customers have under the Grays Harbor PUD loan program.

To receive financing from Grays Harbor PUD, interested applicants should contact the utility to arrange a preliminary audit. The home’s primary heating element must be electric, interest rates are based on market conditions, and normal credit approval requirements will apply. More information is available on the Grays Harbor PUD web site or customers may contact the utility directly.

Grays Harbor PUD - Solar Water Heater Loan

When it comes to cost-effective water heating, Grays Harbor PUD has been a longtime innovator in the market. They’ve offered customers assistance with the installation of solar hot water heaters since October 2001 when they began their low-interest solar hot water heater loan program. Through this incentive, they offer customers who currently use electric hot water a 4% interest rate to purchase and install a solar hot water heater. Customers must meet typical loan guidelines prior to approval, and other terms and conditions may apply.

Solar hot water heaters provide the same quality of hot water as an electric hot water heater, but rely on solar energy to do the job. This saves money on sunny days, potentially a lot of money over the long term, since the main problem with traditional electric hot water heaters is that they constantly require electricity to function. Grays Harbor PUD customers who take advantage of the solar water heater loan won’t have to spend that money. For more information on solar hot water heater financing, contact Grays Harbor directly or visit their web site.

Okanogan PUD - Conservation Loan Program

Most people throw away money every year thanks to inefficient home construction and outdated HVAC systems. With energy prices rising, that dollar amount is getting bigger, month after month. A great way to solve that problem is by taking steps to improve a home’s energy envelope or by investing in a new and better HVAC system like an energy efficient heat pump. For example, an energy efficient heat pump will do the same job as an older, less efficient air conditioner, but can also reverse cycle to provide heating as needed. This flexibility combined with conforming to the latest Department of Energy standards means a new energy efficient heat pump will typically save homeowners money on their seasonal electricity costs.

Okanogan PUD customers who don’t have the money for home improvements or to buy a new energy efficient heat pump can get financing through the company’s Conservation Loan Program. The program covers a wide variety of improvements and equipment purchases such as improved insulation, duct work, Energy Star heat pumps, lighting, and windows. Customers must meet all loan requirements and terms, and applications are available on the Okanogan PUD web site. Customers may also contact the utility directly for more information.

Port Angeles Public Works & Utilities - Solar Energy Loan Program

The City of Port Angeles Public Works & Utilities is dedicated to improving municipal energy efficiency and one way they’ve chosen to do that is through their Solar Energy Loan Program that covers solar hot water heaters and photovoltaic systems. Solar hot water heaters are a relatively simple solution to a lot of energy problems. Traditional electric hot water heating requires constant electricity, putting stress on the power grid and costing homeowners money. Solar hot water heaters can utilize free solar energy on sunny days in order to reduce necessary consumption, but without sacrificing standard of living. That makes them a much palatable solution when it comes to dealing with high energy prices.

To incentivize solar hot water heater adoption, the City of Port Angeles provides a low-interest loan to residential and commercial customers. Basically, the City of Port Angeles will work with local lenders to arrange funding for solar hot water heater purchase and installation. Any City of Port Angeles Public Works & Utilities customer may apply for such a loan, but standard loan application requirements do apply. Interest rates are typically low, loan amounts vary, and the repayment term may be up to 240 months. Customers who want to learn more about the program should contact the City of Port Angeles directly.

Richland Energy Services - Residential Energy Conservation & Solar Loan Program

Richland Energy Services customers may now be eligible for a residential energy conservation and solar loan in order to improve the overall energy efficiency of their home through new technologies like energy efficient heat pumps or solar hot water heaters. Energy efficient heat pumps can reduce seasonal electric spending via improved operational efficiency as compared to a previous generation air conditioner and gas or oil furnace. Meanwhile, a solar hot water heater can save money, since, on sunny days, a solar hot water heater utilizes free solar energy to provide for a family’s hot water necessities. In combination, a solar hot water heater and energy efficient heat pump can drastically reduce yearly electricity consumption, save money, and decrease carbon emissions.

City of Richland customers who receive electric service from the city, possess a good credit history, can provide proof of income, and have a site-built home may be eligible for the loan program. This will provide up to $15,000 for improvements, such as the aforementioned solar hot water heater or energy efficient heat pump. Interest rates vary and the applicant can have no lien beyond the first mortgage on the property.

Avista Utilities (Gas) - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate

New construction projects and existing residential homes in the Washington or Idaho Avista Utilities service area are eligible for rebates under the company’s residential energy efficiency program. A variety of rebates may be issued for customers who purchase and install high efficiency gas water heaters, high AFUE gas furnaces or gas boilers, improve their home insulation, or meet Energy Star Homes guidelines. The home must be located in one of the eligible service areas, utilize an eligible gas system, and ensure all equipment requirements are met.

Currently, the Avista Utilities rebate program will pay a $400 rebate for a qualified high AFUE gas furnace or boiler, a $50 rebate for a qualified gas water heater, and a $650 rebate to a home that is Energy Star rated. To be eligible for the rebate, program terms must be met. For example, a high AFUE gas furnace, in order to receive the $400 rebate, must be 90% AFUE efficient or better. This will allow the gas furnace to operate at a higher performance than a lower ranking system, reducing necessary gas consumption and saving money. The home requirements to receive an Energy Star ranking may be found on the US Department of Energy web site.

Cascade Natural Gas - Conservation Incentives for Existing Homes

Cascade Natural Gas customers who make energy saving improvements to their existing home are eligible to participate in the Conservation Incentives for Existing Homes program. The program pay rebates to natural gas consumers who install eligible equipment such as high AFUE gas furnaces, high efficiency gas water heaters, or radiant heaters in their homes or who improve efficiency via building insulation or air sealing methods. To qualify, customers must primarily heat their homes or water with natural gas from Cascade Natural Gas and the improvements must be made to a home located in the Cascade Natural Gas service area. Additional equipment requirements and application restrictions may apply.

Rebate amounts vary dependent upon the efficiency of the system or method in question. For example, a high efficiency natural gas furnace that is at least 90% AFUE rated may be eligible for $150 in rebates. AFUE is an industry and government measure of how effectively a natural gas furnace or boiler burns their natural gas fuel. A high AFUE rated system will achieve superior performance compared to a previous generation, lower AFUE rated, model. Investing in a 90% AFUE or higher gas furnace is an excellent way to reduce seasonal heating costs without sacrificing home air comfort during winter.

Cascade Natural Gas - Conservation Incentives for New Homes

Given the rising trend in worldwide energy prices, it’s in a builder’s best interest to ensure their new home is constructed with the best energy efficiency possible. A home built to Energy Star Whole Homes standard and making use of superior power-saving systems will cost the owner less to heat and cool throughout the lifetime of the home. Over time, these savings can build up to substantial amounts, easily larger than the up front costs. To further defray those upfront costs, Cascade Natural Gas offers its Conservation Incentives for New Homes program. Through this incentive, Cascade Natural Gas will pay out substantial rebate rewards to natural gas customers who build their new homes in line with Department of Energy standards or who meet Cascade Natural Gas requirements.

The dollar value of the rebate varies depending upon what measures the builders adopt. Customers may try to achieve Energy Star Certification and receive up to $750 in rebates or apply for rebates for specific technology installation. For example, a customer could install high efficiency gas furnace, 95% AFUE or better, to qualify for a $70 rebate. Of course, the same 95% AFUE gas furnace installed in an Energy Star Certified Home would save even more energy and accrue value over the long term. Another excellent way to save money and meet Cascade Natural Gas program standards is with a high efficiency gas water heater with a minimum .62 EF. A high efficiency gas water heater saves on yearly water heating costs, one major source of a lot of household power consumption.

Both site-built and manufactured homes in the Grant County PUD service area may be eligible for the Energy Star New Home Certification Program through which they can receive incentive rebates. Manufactured homes must meet Energy Star requirements and use an energy efficient heat pump for the primary heating system. Provided the energy efficient heat pump is Energy Star rated, then the applicant can receive an initial $500 reward plus an extra $200 per energy efficient heat pump ton. Site-built homes built to Energy Star specifications are also eligible for a $2100 rebate.

In order to be Energy Star certified, the energy efficient heat pump system must be rated 8.0 HSPF and 13 SEER or higher. SEER is an industry and government of seasonal energy efficiency and 13 SEER puts the heat pump in line with current Department of Energy requirements. For details about which energy efficient heat pump systems meet Energy Star standards, contact Grant County customer service or visit their web site.

Grant County PUD - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate

A ductless heat pump is a great and flexible way to get targeted heating and cooling to a particular part of your home. For example, if you have a room that’s perpetually drafty or one you can’t seem to keep cool, a ductless heat pump can provide area air comfort. These heat pumps are designed to be compact and powerful, able to bring reliable performance to areas not connected to a central heating and air system. A ductless heat pump also works well for a detached garage, closed porch, or refurbished attic. Grant County PUD customers who install a ductless heat pump in their home may also be eligible for a rebate valued at up to $1,500.

This ductless heat pump rebate from Grant County PUD is just one part of the utility’s residential rebate program designed to incentivize increased efficiency across the service area. Grant County will pay rebates to qualified customers who install Energy Star rated appliances, improve the overall efficiency of their home, or who install power saving systems like a ductless heat pump. For more information on this Grant County PUD program, contact the company directly or visit their web site.

Grays Harbor PUD - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate

More and more Americans are turning to geothermal heat pump systems to meet their home heating and cooling needs. A geothermal heat pump taps stable subsurface temperatures to cool as well as a traditional air conditioner and provide heating like a natural gas furnace. Meanwhile, a geothermal heat pump gets better operating efficiency and has a longer operating life than either system. Grays Harbor PUD customers can also apply for thousands of dollars in rebates when they install a qualified geothermal heat pump in their home.

Geothermal heat pumps are just one of the systems that can benefit from the Grays Harbor PUD Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate program. Rebates are also available for weatherization improvements, Energy Star rated appliances, air-source heat pumps, and more. Interested customers should complete an application form, attach relevant proof of purchase, and submit it to Grays Harbor PUD. For more information, contact Grays Harbor Energy Services or visit their web site.

Grays Harbor PUD - Solar Water Heater Rebate

A solar hot water heater is a great way for many homeowners to save money on their yearly electric bill. An old-fashioned hot water heater drains power all day in order to keep hot water ready for use. Conversely, a solar hot water heater uses free solar energy to do the same job, saving money and energy without sacrificing quality of life. Solar hot water heaters are a great choice for homeowners who want to be more environmentally conscious or who don’t like paying a lot of money every month on their utility bill.

Grays Harbor PUD customers who install a solar hot water heater may also apply for the Solar Water Heater Rebate. If they qualify, the rebate program will pay the customer a $600 incentive for appropriate solar hot water heater installation. For additional solar hot water heater rebate terms and conditions, contact Grays Harbor Energy Services or visit the web site.

Mason County PUD 3 - Residential Energy Improvement Rebate

Mason County PUD 3 customers who invest in energy efficient heat pump systems for their home can now take advantage of the Residential Energy Improvement Rebate program. The purpose of the program is to encourage customers to adopt energy saving systems like energy efficient heat pumps and also to invest in home improvements like duct sealing for increased heating/cooling efficiency and superior insulation. Rebates may be paid out for all of the aforementioned technologies and methods, but also for site-built and manufactured homes built to Energy Star specifications.

The rebate amounts vary depending upon which criteria a home qualifies for and what systems a Mason County PUD 3 customer choose to install. For example, a geothermal heat pump installed in an existing home in the service area and that is at least 14 SEER efficient is eligible for up to $2,400 in rebates. Meanwhile, a ductless mini split heat pump that meets program requirements may receive a $1,500 rebate. Typically, the better the efficiency, the greater the rebate which is why a geothermal heat pump that operates at greater than 100% efficiency would garner a higher rebate than a ductless mini split heat pump.

Puget Sound Energy - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate

Like many Washington state service providers, Puget Sound Energy offers its customers efficiency rebates when they make approved upgrades to their home’s insulation, HVAC systems, or install Energy Star rated appliances and technologies. Currently, Puget Sound Energy customers can receive a variety of rebates for new geothermal heat pumps, ductless heat pumps, air-source heat pumps, gas furnaces, gas boilers, Energy Star rated clothes washers or refrigerators, light fixtures, high efficiency water heaters and more. Specific rebates are also available when customers meet program criteria such as for old appliance recycling or equipment conversion.

Reward amounts vary widely, usually dependent upon how efficient a given technology or improvement method will be. For example, CFL bulbs and fixtures may receive between $3 and $12 in rebate rewards. By contrast, a geothermal heat pump, one of the best home HVAC systems available, could receive up to $1,500 in rebate rewards. The disparity is due to the fact that the geothermal heat pump is, obviously, a more expensive investment than a CFL bulb, but is also going to reduce a homeowner’s power consumption by a much higher margin. Geothermal heat pumps operate at higher than 100% efficiency and can, in extreme cases, reduce home electricity needs by 70%.

For more information on Puget Sound Energy rebates, contact a customer service representative or visit the program web site.
